博士課程での研究です。沖縄県読谷村都屋漁港定置網で混獲されるウミガメ類の調査を続ける中で発見した内容の報告です。ツツフジツボ Cylindrolepas sinicaは、アオウミガメやタイマイにはよく付着していますが、アカウミガメにはほとんど付着していません。この報告では、ウミガメ類まとめて500頭近い調査履歴の中で初めてアカウミガメにツツフジツボが付着していたのを報告しました。
アオウミガメやタイマイは周年沖縄周辺で見られる一方、アカウミガメは3~9月頃まで見られるものの、その後はほとんど見られなくなります。この報告でとりあげたアカウミガメは、8月だけでなく12月にも定置網で混獲されました。これらのことから、ツツフジツボはウミガメの宿主によって付着基盤を決めているのではなく、周年沿岸をウロウロしている個体に付着するのではないか?ウミガメ類の回遊行動の指標になるのではないか?と提案した内容です。
たいしたjournalではありませんが、初めて自分ひとりで発表した論文なのでわりと好きな内容です。
