河口域などの淡水が流入するようなところによく見られるシロスジフジツボが、屋久島に産卵上陸するアカウミガメに付着していたという報告です。 ウミガメ類にはカメフジツボの仲間、オニフジツボ超科のものはよくついているものの、その他のフジツボ類の付着例はあまり多くありません。このシロスジフジツボの遺伝子などを調べれば、このウミガメはどこの海域を通って泳いできたのか、回遊行動の履歴を教えてくれるかもしれません。
